岡山県真庭市の蕎麦畑が広がる蒜山高原の麓に位置する、地域の方々に親しまれていたそばの館が焼失した。そのそばの館の再建計画である。市営の店舗としてどのようにあるべきかを考え、蕎麦を食べるだけでなく、蕎麦文化や地域の伝統にも触れられる場としたいと考えた。周辺には入母屋造りの伝統家屋や神社が多く見られ、その入母屋の屋根の下で人々が回り踊る大宮踊りが無形文化財に指定されている。焼失した店舗も一部入母屋の屋根が使われていた。建物は、蒜山らしいCLTによる現代的な入母屋と雪の落下を防ぐために勾配を緩く抑え、パノラマの風景を切り取る庇がぐるりと取り付く蒜山らしさを感じられる構成とした。オープン以降、再建を待ち望んでいた人々でにぎわい、入母屋屋根の下に人々が集い、周囲に広がる蒜山の山々の風景を眺めながら蕎麦を楽しむ、蒜山ならではの姿が見られるようになった。
This is a reconstruction project of the Soba Noodle House destroyed by fire, which was a favorite of the local people, located at the foot of the Hiruzen Kogen highland, where buckwheat fields spread out in Maniwa City, Okayama Prefecture. Considering how it should be as a store run by local municipal, we wanted to make it a place not only for eating soba, but also for experiencing soba culture and local traditions. In the neighborhood, there are many traditional houses and shrines built in the gambrel roof. Omiya dance performed under the gambrel roof of local shrine has been designated an intangible cultural asset. The building is composed of two elements to give a sense of Hiruzen’s character; a gambrel roof made of Cross Laminated Timber, and 3 dimensionally curved deep eaves which cut out the panoramic view and prevent snow from falling from the gambrel roof. Since its opening, the restaurant has been packed with those who have been waiting for the reconstruction, and people can be seen gathering under the gambrel roof to enjoy soba noodles while gazing at the surrounding Hiruzen mountain views.
地域の建築様式と技術を繋ぐCLT入母屋造り
入母屋の屋根は、真庭市の産業である４枚のCLTパネルが互いにもたれかかり支え合う構造とすることで、大きな気積にも関わらず、内部に小屋組みも柱も無いすっきりとした大空間となった。周囲にも残る蒜山地域の伝統的な入母屋造りを、地場の木材と地場の現代技術であるCLTで実現した。
