A conversion project from abandoned old brick warehouse to a oyster restaurant in Hokkaido, Japan. In the same town, the client have run an existing oyster restaurant which was constructed by himself. Due to the limited budget, we planed not to finish all design at once, but to leave some area that can be done by the owner himself and expand it while using it.
The space is one large room in which the visitor can watch a live feeling series of flow from collection to disposal; taking oysters in the sea in front, storing them in pool, moving them in wagon , baking oysters directly on the iron plate with scoop, and discarding the oyster shell. Structural reinforcement is limited as minimum as possible to take advantage of existing bricks and structure to leave vast space. It is expected to see a busy and exciting place when the visitors once stepped in the space.

寿都オイスターヴィレッジ
北海道寿都町で進めている、古いレンガ倉庫を改修した牡蠣小屋の計画。
施主は、同じ町で、自身で施工や改修した店舗や工房などを構えている。
限られた予算のため、我々がすべての計画を施すのではなく、施主自身で施工のできる部分を残し、使いながら拡張することのできる計画としている。
目の前の海で牡蠣を採り、水槽で保管、食べる分を水切り用のワゴンに移動、スコップで直接鉄板に牡蠣を乗せて焼く、牡蠣殻を廃棄する。採取から廃棄までの一連の流れがすべて大きな１室の中で見えるライブ感のある場としている。
最低限の補強で大きな空間と小屋組とレンガの壁を残し、入った瞬間に全体が見渡せて、賑やかでワクワクできる場所となることを期待している。建物前には海を見渡せるテラスと屋台を拡張し、砕いた牡蠣殻を使った小道を予定しており、屋外でも食事を楽しめる場所となる。
