The site is located in the building of the former sugar factory in Guangzhou city of China. This is a conversion project from 60 years old 3 story abandoned brick office building to Japanese cuisine. in which organic vegetables grew in the client’s farm nearby will be served.
The altitude of the site is close to Okinawa, which is in subtropical climate zone. The yellow building that shines in the sun and the lively tropical plant are impressive places. In the town, It is often seen that local people find a cozy place in the shade and spend some time with neighbors..
Over the terrace, woven bamboo pergola made by local bamboo furniture craftsman is placed to reinforce the shades provided by the existing trees in front of the building. The pergola provides cozy space with shades and breeze as well as works as linkage people to nature and architecture.

紫泥堂ファームレストラン
中国の広州市にある旧製糖工場の建物の一角にある、破棄された組積造の建物をコンバージョンする計画で、敷地近くで有機栽培の農場を営む、施主の野菜を使った料理も提供する、農園と一体のレストランとの計画。
既存建物は、かつてロシア資本により建てられた、黄色い外壁が特徴的なレンガ造の建物となっている。計画地は沖縄に近い温暖な気候で、日差しに映える黄色い建物と、いきいきとした南洋植物が印象的な場所である。町を歩くと人々が木陰の居心地の良い場所をみつけて過ごしている風景をみることができる。
我々は建物前面に竹のパーゴラをつくることで、既にある２本の樹木がつくる木陰を、まるで森の木陰のように増幅するような設計ができないかと考えた。竹を曲げて編みこんだパーゴラが、自然光、風、植物、人、家具、照明などの様々なものを掛け渡す手がかりとなるように設計した。テラスには農園を営む施主のセレクトで、葡萄などのつた植物を植える予定で、柱を伝ってパーゴラに絡み、建物前の樹木と編みこんだ竹を経た、木漏れ日とそよ風が通り抜ける、心地良い場所をつくる。竹のパーゴラは現地の椅子職人が培った技術を応用して計画している。
