This is a private residential project for a family of parents and two little kids.The site is located in a dense residential area. With severe restrictions of 50m2 building area and 100m2 total floor area, it was a big challenge to how the house can achieve the family’s wish to live open and not to feel the compactness of the house.
The solution was not to separate rooms with walls, but scatter the tiny spots for each family members all over the house, and use large remaining space for family sharing space.

The composition of centralized family space like a hall and four big towers like trees filled with many family favorite spots at corners, contributes to create the more intimate house in which each family members find his/her own favorite spots with children’s growth.

府中M邸
都内に計画中の４人家族のための、個人住宅。住宅密集地であること、建築面積約50m2延べ床面積100m2というコンパクトな容積制限の中で、広く開放的に住みたいという住み手の希望をいかにかなえるか。そこで、通常の「部屋」で区切っていくのではなく、部屋とも呼べないようなたくさんの「小さな居場所」を家中に散りばめようと考えた。

紅葉の植えられたお風呂脇の秋テラス。
中央のホールのような大きな家族のスペースを居場所のつまった４つの塔が支えるプランとすることで、住みながら、たくさんの居場所を見つけられる家になった。
子供の成長と共に、家の中にたくさんのお気に入りの場所が育っていくような、家がより親密で、楽しい場所になることを期待している。
