STUDIO YYは東京をベースにしていますが、2020年にプロポーザルに参加したのを機に高知や岡山、島根などの西日本で多くの実績があります。昨年からは関東圏や東北でのプロジェクトも増え、全国各地で活動しているのが当社の特徴です。地方出身で、将来出身地に戻り活躍したい方や、地域の賑わい創出に取り組みたい方など多くのことを学ぶことができる環境となっています。コロナ前は中国鄭州での大開発に関わるなど海外のプロジェクトにも参画しており、今後、海外への進出も考えています。

STUDIO YY is based in Tokyo, but since entering our first design proposal in 2020 we have built up a substantial body of work across western Japan — Kochi, Okayama, Shimane, and beyond. Since last year our project base has also expanded into the Kanto and Tohoku regions, and working across the country is one of the defining features of our practice. It's an environment where staff from the regions — who may want to one day return home and work there, or who want to help revitalize a community — can learn a great deal. Before the pandemic we were also involved in projects overseas, including a large-scale development in Zhengzhou, China, and we are considering further international work going forward.

STUDIO YYは、東京・日本橋浜町に位置する建築設計事務所です。都営新宿線・浜町駅から徒歩30秒、都営浅草線・東日本橋駅、人形町駅からも徒歩5分と、通勤しやすい立地にあります。都心にありながら、暮らしやすい環境が整っています。また、浜町駅から東側エリアは比較的家賃も抑えられており、一人暮らしもしやすい地域です。

STUDIO YY's office is located in Nihonbashi Hamacho, Tokyo — 30 seconds on foot from Hamacho Station on the Toei Shinjuku Line, and a 5-minute walk from Higashi-Nihombashi and Ningyocho Stations on the Toei Asakusa Line. It's an easy commute in the heart of the city, with a comfortable living environment nearby. The area east of Hamacho Station also has relatively affordable rents, making it a practical place to live on your own.

事務所は少人数体制のため、代表との距離が近く、日常的に直接コミュニケーションを取りながら設計を進められます。疑問点をすぐに相談できる環境があり、実務を通して密度高く学ぶことができます。新規プロジェクトやプロポーザルが始まる際には、代表を含め全員でアイデアを出し合うなど、フラットでオープンな設計プロセスを大切にしています。また、年に数回は他事務所との交流会を開催し、互いのプロジェクトを紹介し合うなど、外部とのつながりも大切にしています。展覧会費用や書籍購入費用の補助制度もあり、視野を広げながら、自身の設計観を深められる環境づくりを行っています。

Because we are a small office, staff work in close proximity to the partners and communicate directly with them day to day as projects move forward. Questions can be raised and resolved immediately, allowing for dense, hands-on learning through real work. When a new project or proposal begins, everyone — including the partners — contributes ideas together, reflecting our commitment to a flat, open design process. We also value connections beyond the office, hosting exchange events with other practices several times a year to share our respective projects. Subsidies for exhibition visits and book purchases are also available, supporting staff in broadening their perspective and deepening their own design sensibility.

設計環境としては、ArchiCAD（BIM）を基盤とした設計を行っています。一方で、設計初期段階では模型、3Dモデル、スケッチを積極的に用い、手を動かしながら多角的な検討を行います。計画がある程度固まった段階でBIMへ移行し、図面作成へと進みます。BIMを活用することで作図時間を効率化し、その分をデザインの深化や検討に充てる体制を整えており、少人数でも質の高い建築を実現できる環境となっています。新規プロジェクトの大型化・複雑化が進んでいるため、RhinocerosやGrasshopper、3Dプリンターの導入も進め、より高度な検討や設計の効率化を図るなど、新しいツールや設計手法に挑戦しながら、実践的にスキルを伸ばせる環境を整備しています。

Our design workflow is built around ArchiCAD (BIM). At the same time, in the early stages of a project we make active use of physical models, 3D models, and sketches, examining ideas from multiple angles through hands-on work. Once a scheme is reasonably settled, we move into BIM and proceed toward drawing production. Using BIM to streamline drafting time lets us devote more of our effort to refining and deepening the design — an environment where a small team can still produce high-quality architecture. As new projects grow larger and more complex, we are also introducing Rhinoceros, Grasshopper, and 3D printing to enable more advanced study and more efficient design, giving staff the chance to build practical skills while engaging with new tools and methods.
